Sustainability is at the heart of Willamere, guiding every decision as we create products that respect both people and the planet for future generations.
Our Materials
Our products start with the best nature has to offer. We prioritize organic cotton and linen, avoiding synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon, which contribute to harmful microplastic pollution. Our eco-friendly, azo-free dyes reduce water contamination, minimizing pollution in rivers and oceans. And when it comes to packaging, we minimize plastic use to reduce our environmental footprint.

What We Choose
Cotton is a strong, breathable, and natural material. However, conventional cotton farming is water intensive and reliant on synthetic fertilizers, which destroy soil and create chemical runoff, negatively impacting native species and farmers' health. This is why choosing organic cotton is important. Choosing sustainably produced cotton, grown without pesticides, can reduce water pollution by up to 98%.
Flax is the plant from which linen, one of the oldest known fabrics, is made. Linen is a natural fabric with a distinctive crispness that gives it a beautiful, flattering drape. Flax is a resilient crop requiring minimal resources, making it an eco-friendly choice for fabrics.

Environmentally Conscious Dyes
We use soft, natural hues in our designs, eliminating the need for harsh dyes. Our products are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, ensuring that we avoid azo dyes, carcinogenic and allergenic dyes, phthalates, formaldehyde, pesticides, heavy metals, and more. This is important because these toxic chemicals, used in many textile products, are discharged into local waterways, polluting rivers, groundwater, and eventually oceans. By using dyes free of these toxins, we help reduce pollution, in addition to protecting you and your families health.

Material Certifications
Our products are certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). To receive certification, the cotton must pass rigorous testing and processes to ensure that every stage of its production adheres to stringent standards, including the prohibition of harmful pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers. Our products are also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, ensuring that our fabric and finished product is free from over 100 harmful substances, protecting both you and your family.
Ethical Production and Fair Trade
We are committed to Fairtrade Certified manufacturing, ensuring the people who craft our products are treated with respect, paid fair wages, and work in safe conditions. This commitment is integral to our mission, as we believe beautiful products should be made in a way that honors the dignity of every individual involved in their creation. By choosing Fairtrade, we uphold our promise to deliver not only beautiful designs but also a clear conscience, knowing that our practices support a more just and equitable world.
Fairtrade standards promote social, economic, and environmental development for workers by ensuring fair prices, democratic decision-making, and non-discriminatory labor practices. These standards require transparency, safe working conditions, and environmentally sound agricultural practices, while prohibiting forced labor and child labor. Funds from Fairtrade are invested, improving community health, education, and economic development. Learn more about Fairtrade.
Environmentally Friendly Packaging
Our sustainable approach extends to packaging. We’ve chosen eco-friendly packaging, using primarily paper and avoiding plastic wherever possible. This mindful approach not only reduces waste but also aligns with our commitment to protecting the environment.
